– “Things Get Worse Before the End” – Sermon Notes…

These are my sermon notes for last Sunday – not today…

The temple was a beauty
With precious stones and gold,
But God’s glory was not present,
Since Ezekiel of old.

Four hundred years of emptiness –
Did not the people know?
The motions only they went through,
As God, His glory, did not bestow.

The Messiah suffering,
The disciples did not see.
They should have reflected back
To Isaiah fifty three.

“Things get worse before the end”,
How do you define the end?
As we sort it out, we’ll humble ourselves
And ask God, His grace to send.

To the KING be all the glory!

Sermon Notes – The Church Body…

These are my notes from today’s sermon – they aren’t very long this time…

Elders should be shepherd’s,
Deacons should be servants.
Each of the church’s leaders,
Should have characteristic bents.

The saints or “laity” are ministers
Within the body of the church.
For opportunities to thus work,
It is their duty to search.

The church of God is a household
Consisting of many a family.
Church shouldn’t be individualistic,
Though many, thus, don’t see.

The character of a mature Christian
Should reflect that of our Lord.
Th threads of His character
Should be wrapped round us like a cord.

“Where does the Word say that?”
Is a question we must ask.
In our LORD’s Holy Word,
We ought to joyfully bask.

“Iron sharpens iron”
This is a truth we can’t deny.
This truth can work both good and ill
When our actions with each other fly.

To the KING be all the glory!

Sermon Notes – October 11th

“I will declare, Jesus Christ as King
And sovereign LORD of everything!”

Never lose your guard –
Never let it down,
For you are surrounded by
Many a sight and sound!

Our Lord, the King
Judges many things.
He condemns and teaches
Yet love, through all, rings.

There were many things in the Word
That the disciples failed to see.
Regarding Christ their Master –
Like that crucified, He would be.

Hope starts at repentance
The two go hand in hand.
Christ came to seek and save the lost
So we with Him might stand.

Wisely invest your time,
Until our LORD’s return.
Study His word, worship Him,
In all, while you work and learn.

Jesus when approaching Jerusalem
Wept over the people’s fate.
He prophesied the city’s destruction
So different from it’s present state!

When Jesus came to earth
His kingdom was inaugurated.
One day, in His good time,
His kingdom will be consummated.

When Jesus entered the temple,
He was angered by the corruption.
He drove out those who were selling,
And scolded them for their occupation.

How could Christ be angry
And yet, He sinned not?
He was holy and righteous
On Him was not a spot …

There are two kinds of anger,
One is righteous, one is not.
Our Lord had anger that was righteous
And on Him left no spot.

We are called to fear not death,
But to proclaim Christ, though we die.
We should strongly stand for Jesus
Though the end may be nigh.

Our Lord is a God and King,
Who pronounces judgment on sin.
He condemns that which is evil.
In the end, over sin, He doth win.

To the KING be all the glory!
