~On the Third Day of December…

– – –

On the third day of December,
It was quite a busy day!
With shopping, dishes and projects,
The beginning quite sped away!

The evening was more laid back,
As the family decided to sit,
Watch a few movies together,
While eating up some chocolate.

The evening wasn’t very productive,
But the family enjoyed the time,
Spent in each others company.
Now… I must close this little rhyme.

Perry is having a ten minute writing challenge over at her site today! Basically, you set a ten minute timer, and see how much you can write for the opening of a story, before the timer goes off. Go on over to her blog, at any time today, and join in the fun! It will be great to see what everyone comes up with!

~On My Bookshelf

My reading list is about a mile long. If I were to start listing the books that I want to read, I would probably be writing all afternoon. I thought though, that I might share a few books that I would really like to read in the near future! If you have read any of the ones on my list, I would love to hear your thoughts on them!

The Elements of Style This is probably one of the first ones on my list. I’ve looked through it a little bit and it looks like it should be good.

The Answers Book: Volume One. I read the last version on this book, but though we have owned the newer one for awhile, I haven’t gotten beyond looking at the first few pages.

The Genesis Finding Our Roots by Ruth Beechick. I’m planning to preview this one for my Mom, since we don’t know much about it. That way we know if we want to keep it or not.

When I Don’t Desire God by John Piper. I haven’t read anything by Mr. Piper before but my Mom has this book, and it looks pretty good.

Little Dorrit by Charles Dickens. I enjoyed most of the movie, but I would really love to read the original. Movies based upon Mr. Dickens novels are good, but the books are, in my experience, always better!

From Dark to Dawn by Elizabeth Charles. A friend of ours gave us this book and I’m looking forward to beginning it… eventually!

The Digital Photography Book 2 by Scott Kelby. I bought this book a long time ago, but I never read it. I’m not sure why. I should probably re-read the first one too.

The Civil War Vol. 1-3 by Shelby Foote. I have started these, but I may start them over instead of continuing, since I haven’t read them in awhile. At over 800 pages per book, I have a lot of reading planned!

Taking Back Astronomy by Dr. Jason Lisle. Another book that I bought a long time ago and never read…

Old Testament Chronology by Dr. Floyd Nolen Jones. I read about half of this book several years ago. I really want to read the entire thing this time!

Alright… that’s all for now… I want to read some books by Agatha Christie and Anna Catherine Green… then there are always more Dickens books… I should do a reread of a book or two by Jane Austen… I’ve got more Apologetics books… A book by Martin Luther… I should read Nourishing Traditions again… and… I’ll make that really be all for now. :)
