This is not one of the posts that I said I was preparing. I was inspired to write this poem, just this morning after reading the verse: “By your endurance you will gain your lives.” (Luke 21:19) The LORD was talking about persecution to HIS disciples. It might make a good song – I am not sure. What do you all think? Should it be a song or should I just leave it as a poem?
They were persecuted,
Yet they endured.
Though on themselves,
Much wrath they incurred,
They never denied
Jesus’ name.
Whenever they could,
They spread His fame.
Though they knew
They might surely die,
Their Savior and King
They would not deny.
LORD, make me like them!
Build me up!
So no matter how painful
Or bitter the cup –
I will never deny You,
My LORD and my KING
And even in death,
Your praises I’ll sing.
To the KING be all the glory!
If it was to be a song, methinks you would need to change some of it rhythmically- which you could do easily enough. Either way, I like it.
I like it Rebekah! I know I would have a hard time writing that! :b
Good job, Rebekah, I think a song would be nice :)
