On the Twenty-Fourth Day of December …

– – –

‘Twas the twenty-fourth day of December
The day was CHRISTmas Eve!
The children stayed at home,
While the parents had to leave.

Cooking, baking, mixing –
There was so much to do!
Everyone hurrying here and there –
The house was almost a zoo!

Presents to finish,
Oh! sewing finally complete!
It seemed sometimes hard work,
Just to find time to take a seat.

The evening finale being Lasagna dinner,
Then a trip to drive by CHRISTmas lights.
The baby (most of the time that is)
Really enjoyed the sights!

Well… ’twas the night before CHRISTmas,
And all through the house,
Many creatures were still stirring –
Just hopefully no mouse!

To the KING be all the glory!

On the Twenty-Third Day of December …

– – –

‘Twas the twenty-third day of December
The stores were packed to bursting!
Like sardines in a can –
Like stitches on a lady’s worsting!

Shopping, shopping, all the day long
Then on to the Laundromat the family went.
So very busy, going from place to place,
Before they knew it the day was spent!

Only two days ’til Christmas!
What can I say?
They couldn’t believe
It was so close to that day …

To the KING be all the glory!

On the Twentieth Day of December …

– – –

‘Twas the twentieth day of December
And a bright Sunday it was!
Church in the morning, guests until late –
It was quite a buzz!

Playing games such as hangman,
Thumper and pictionary-
If only I had the brains and wits,
‘Twould make quite a good story!

But instead I leave you to imagine,
What it was like to have been –
Ending with singing hymns and carols –
And the eldest, having her song, completely written…

To the KING be all the glory!
