On the Twenty-Ninth Day of December …

– – –

‘Twas the twenty-ninth day of December
Oh my! What a day!
Well, afternoon more like it –
Well – part – was hectic anyway.

The boxes were in the attic,
But the day was coming quick,
When decorations must be packed,
And so the two eldest girls were picked.

They climbed up the mighty ladder,
Reaching the attic floor,
The eldest passed down boxes –
Then more and more and more.

Her sister was clumsy that day –
She admitted it herself,
She couldn’t keep track of the boxes,
Coming from that attic shelf.

More than one met it’s fate,
By landing harshly on the ground.
Good thing that they were empty –
But my! Did they make a sound!

The big blue bins were the hardest,
Not quite empty were they.
Heavy and awkward, large and stubborn –
They were no mere child’s play.

Now the boxes were down,
Tomorrow perhaps they’ll pack.
Right now the boxes were resting,
In the hallway, in many a tidy stack!

To the KING be all the glory!

On the Twenty-Seventh Day of December …

– – –

‘Twas the twenty-seventh day of December
And a lovely Sunday was spent!
Here’s the eldest daughter’s notes on the sermon –
It was a little CHRISTmas bent:

Let Christ be the center
Of every single thing!
Man wants to focus on themselves
And the LORD’s importance fling.

We, as Christians, should stand firm –
Not allow Christ’s Lordship go.
Stop, compromising with this world
And with their ways, don’t flow!

A baby in a manger,
An army from the sky!
Submit to this little Baby –
Submit or you will die!

Herod slew the children
In his jealous rage.
Peace did not reign during Christ’s birth
On almost any page.

Old age should be a time,
For passing wisdom on,
Discipling the next generations –
Not the behavior that is common.

Bow to the ground –
Submit to the KING!
Give Him Lordship of all
And His praises sing!

“There was never a time when He was not!”
He is and was, Beginning and End!
Creator of all, the same yesterday and always,
King, Savior, Messiah, Lord and Friend!

To the KING be all the glory!

On the Twenty-Sixth Day of December …

– – –

‘Twas the twenty-sixth day of December –
‘Twas calm and rather quiet!
Comparing it to yesterday,
The latter seemed a riot!

CHRISTmas day was a blast!
So full of fun and joy!
Fellowship, celebrating, feasting,
Watching the baby opening up each toy!

Finishing a puzzle
That for years had ne’re been finished!
Making English Toffee –
That when finished was delicious!

Practicing acting
With laughter and fun,
It was hard to believe it
When the day was done!

But the next day was quiet –
Gentle, but long.
With guests staying the night
With calm, nothing is wrong…

To the KING be all the glory!
