” ‘On our old icy island people are fond of study. There isn’t a single farmer or fisherman who can’t read and doesn’t read. We believe that books, instead of mouldering behind an iron grating, far from inquisitive gazes, should be worn out under the eyes of a great many readers.’ ”
~Mr. Fridriksson in Jule’s Verne’s Journey to the Centre of the Earth
That’s a great quote! I read a shortened version of JthCotE and it was pretty interesting if not a bit far-fetched! Have you read it?
~Jamie
I’m in the middle of reading it and I’m quite enjoying it!
It probably will be a bit far-fetched when they get to the center of the earth, but so far the Icelandic travels are pretty realistic. :D
