~T’was the Fifteenth…

T’was the fifteenth day of December
And the highlight of my day,
Was the blessing of going to church,
After many weeks away.

The sermon was on humility,
Christ, exaltation, and pride.
To think what Christ left to come,
To manger, at an animals side!

I hung up my snowflake garland,
That I’d made a few days before.
Did I mention I love Christmas carols?
We sang some as we did up the chores.

Then, as the silence of night fell,
I watched a movie – unsure of the name.
What I saw wasn’t great, but okay –
We’ll see my opinion at the end of the same.

To the KING be all the glory!

~T’was the Thirteenth…

T’was the thirteenth day of December
And after our work was done,
Rosy, Gracie, and I played a game,
Long after the setting of the sun.

We pushed our squares in place,
Laughing when we made a mistake.
Tallied our points on a list –
But really playing for fun’s sake.

At last the hour began to grow late,
And the time came to retire for the night.
The game was finished up and put away,
Not even the box was left in sight.

To the KING be all the glory!

~T’was the Twelfth…

T’was the twelfth day of December
And I spent a rather late night,
Curled up with my cantankerous laptop,
Staring at it’s screen so bright.

Typing a little bit here,
Then glancing down at my phone.
For my movie played there steadily,
For my computer was cranky alone.

Consequently not much writing,
Flew from under my hands.
My fingers too often froze –
Which wasn’t set in my plans.

Now, it’s so late, I must stop,
Leave this novel for the morrow.
Oh – wait… I have a different deadline?
Can I just the rest of the night borrow?

To the KING be all the glory!

~T’was the Eleventh…

T’was the eleventh day of December
And I had discovered a new song.
Well, actually, I’d sung it before –
So that statement is kind of wrong.

But today was the day that I realized,
Just how much I really enjoyed,
This old carol that I’d recently learned,
And in singing, my voice had employed.

Sing We Now of Christmas.
T’was the name of the song I found.
If nothing else, I really like the tune,
It has such a lovely and haunting sound.

But then, there’s the words too.
I enjoy them – well the ones I’ve learned.
I’ve only memorized verse one so far.
The rest, so far, my memory has spurned.

But, I intend to rectify that later,
Maybe, just possibly tomorrow.
And if I find something I don’t like –
Well, that will be much to my sorrow.

But, unless that happens, this just might,
Make it on my list of favorites songs.
I plan to sing it over and again in coming days,
Imagining the music, complete with bells and gongs.

To the KING be all the glory!
