– On the Twelfth Day of December…

On the Twelfth day of December
T’was a bright and sparkling Sunday.
Our Pastor delivered a sermon this morning –
My notes I shall post, with the text leading the way.

Then you said to me, ‘We have sinned against the LORD; we will indeed go up and fight, just as the LORD our God commanded us.’ And every man of you girded on his weapons of war, and regarded it as easy to go up into the hill country. And the LORD said to me, ‘Say to them, “Do not go up nor fight, for I am not among you; otherwise you will be defeated before your enemies.” So I spoke to you, but you would not listen. Instead you rebelled against the command of the LORD, and acted presumptuously and went up into the hill country. The Amorites who lived in that hill country came out against you and chased you as bees do, and crushed you from Seir to Hormah. Then you returned and wept before the LORD; but the LORD did not listen to your voice nor give ear to you. So you remained in Kadesh many days, the days that you spent there.”
Deuteronomy 1:41-46

Too often we don’t obey,
What the Lord hath said;
But rebellion to His Word,
Will leave us, in the end, dead.

If our God has said it,
We should happily obey.
Whatever we perceive will happen,
We must still follow what He doth say.

The Israelites response,
Was repentance, yet only feigned,
Not Biblical repentance,
For disobedience reigned.

Worldly sorrow,
Brings about regret.
But with Biblical repentance,
A great change is met.

To the KING be all the glory!

On the eleventh day of December,
Most of the laundry is packed.
Books have found a temporary home
And the boxes are neatly stacked.

How many things there are to do,
When a house you must vacate.
So many things to remember –
They are wearying my pate!

Now off to bed I must hurry,
Since early I am to rise.
Signing off to the sounds of the dog,
Talking sisters, and a baby’s weary cries…

To the KING be all the glory!

On the tenth day of December,
We spent the day a-drivin’ around.
Here and there, everywhere
That a possible new house could be found!

Then we came home, to pack some more,
We have so much more to get done!
We hadn’t even finished one whole room
Before the setting of the sun!

Dad and Mom had us take the late evening off,
To eat ice cream and watch A Christmas Carol
It was a nice time to rest and relax,
For I’m so tired, breakables could be at peril!

Tomorrow should be a busy day…
We’ll see what the LORD brings.
I know one thing for sure –
The day is sure to fly as if on wings!

To the KING be all the glory!

– On the Ninth Day of December…

On the ninth day of December,
The boxes are piling high!
The cupboards are nearly empty –
It’s enough to make some sigh.

Nannah came over for an early lunch,
It was a pleasant little visit!
We had homemade eggsalad,
And nice, fluffy, warm, biscuit!

Then it was off to packing again,
Though we had to run to the store first.
Did you know that I have found,
Packing gives you a horrible thirst??

The sewing machines are neatly boxed,
And stacked up by the wall.
With so many boxes already full,
It’s amazing we’ve hardly scratched it all!!

To the KING be all the glory!

(Hardly something that makes one think of Christmas – but this is the view from our window. :)

– On the Eighth Day of December

On the eighth day of December,
Boxes seem to be everywhere!
Some are full, many are empty –
But those last, won’t long so easily fare!

We have so many boxes,
I’ve finally lost count.
Of all shapes and sizes,
In high piles they mount!

After tomorrow, there’s bound to be more,
Many should be packed and taped tight.
I wonder how many, we’ll have in the end –
Putting them all together, will be quite a sight!

To the KING be all the glory!
